Rose and Peter – Wedding Photography at St Mary’s Church in Henbury and Clevedon Hall

St Mary’s Church in Henbury is a lovely little spot, tucked out of sight in Henbury. It wasn’t until I pulled up at the church on the day of Rose and Peter’s wedding that I realised I had photographed another wedding there around 7 or 8 years ago. Lots of areas for pictures and a vicar who didn’t mind confetti in the grounds meant we could use the pathway in the churchyard to have guests line up and thwo confetti over the new Mr and Mrs Stam.

Before the ceremony Rose chose to get ready at her parents home along with her bridesmaids, best friends and new mother-in-law as well as VIP Mr Mew who had his own special tie for the occasion and was the first to be photographed with the bride on her wedding day. A wonderfully relaxed and happy atmosphere champagne was poured and everyone enjoyed the preparations together with makeup and hair stations in the dining room. Grace Kingsley was the very talented makeup artist who created Rose’s natural bridal look, lovely to see her as always. Emma Petersson was the florsist behind Rose’s neat handtied posies in soft peaches with blackberries tucked into the bouquets. I am in love with the absolutely stunning bridesmaids dress. In a soft dusky coral it was a dress that Rose had fallen in love with on pinterest but finding out that it was from BHLDN in America gave up on the idea of it until the realised that the shop was in New York just a few blocks from the hotel where bridesmaid Sarah was staying on holiday. It was clearly meant to be! Rose had her elegant gown created by Jessica Charleston in Bath. With such a petite figure it was the perfect choice. She had it adapted from Jessica’s original design to include delicate cap sleeves. I loved the way the lace fell in soft scoops and the embroidered RB in blue on the inside of the dress. A tiny touch like that marks a dress out as being bespoke. Rose is now having the dress shortened by Jessica so she can continue to wear it.

The boys arrived at St Mary’s looking very dapper in dark blue suits from Austin Reed teamed with ties by Thomas Pink. Clouds cleared and gorgeous sunshine was overhead by the time guests started to arrive. Rose rocked up in black cab provided by Forever London Taxis, a nod to their lives in London and a practical car choice as we had to travel on the motorway between church and reception.

After a lovely service that included a very confident reading by Rose’s niece Jenny and personal address from a family friend who is a vicar, we heading out into the sunshine and spent about ten minutes capturing a handfulof images with the Bride and Groom’s parents and a great confetti tunnel.

To give guests enough time to arrive at Clevedon Hall we headed to the seafront to capture some images, a lovely touch as it was where we did the newyweds pre-wedding shoot back in June. Guests were all in place when we arrived at the reception, ready to meet the new Mr and Mrs Stam who pulled up at the front of the house where they were greeted by drinks and many hugs and kisses from their friends and family.

The happy couple choose a slightly boozy theme for their tables with corks to hold the name places, a huge board made of corks to display the table plan and tables name after different wines.

After a tasty three course meal, coffee and truffles were served in the organgery and everyone relaxed before the evening reception was kicked off with first dance followed by music by Jazz band the Mississippi Swamp Dogs.
