I love my job! I’m so lucky to be able to do what I love and I’m at my happiest in the sunshine at a beautiful venue with lovely people. I knew from the moment that I met Vicky and Scott at  wedding fayre that they would e a lot of fun to work with. When we met for their final meeting a few weeks ago the general brief for the day was FUN. And Mr and Mrs Britton certainly didn’t disappoint!

I arrived at Coombe Lodge on what is easily the hottest day of the year (Vicky’s chief bridesmaid Hollie can confirm this. She lives in Spain and still ended up just a tad pink by the end of the day!) Vicky was relaxing with her girls in the bridal suite when I arrived having hair and makeup done. Scott was also getting ready onsite so I popped down the corridor to say hello (and got many a kiss from the male half of the bridal party.) where Scott was about to start dressing his two adorable nephews in military uniforms that matched his own. Two tiny dashing soldiers then headed to Vicky’s room where they presented her with gifts from her groom. A collage of photos of their time together and Pandora a silver charm of two bears…silver, but really ginger and Turkish. Vicky had opted to have staff from Rookery bridal where she had purchased her beautiful gown, to come to the suite to dress her. A smart idea as often mothers and bridesmaids get nervous at the thought of having to lace bridal gowns if they haven’t had an opportunity to practice. I often end up lacing my brides into their dresses when those helping the bride realise that it’s a bigger task than they originally expected.

With such a gorgeous day the ceremony couldn’t be held anywhere else but outside. The great thing about being outside is that I can move easily during the ceremony without obstructing anyone’s view so that I can get a few different angles during the service. The new Mr and Mrs Britton were covered in confetti as they came back down the aisle and enjoyed the sunshine, mingling and some prosecco before starting on their formal photos.

Vicky and Scott really wanted silly and fun photos that reflected their personalities so after the more traditional group shots we went for a wander with their bridal party to create some more quirky shots.

Cocktails, prosecco and copious amount so ice cream were followed by a delicious three course meal in the music room. Vicky and Scott didn’t want guests to be ‘blinded by their love’ so they left bright sunglass favours in everyone’s places. (I had a very fetching pair of bright yellow heart shaped glasses!) with a theme loosely based around the beach, table centrepieces had a slightly tropical feel and bright flowers nestled inside fresh pineapples. The cake was topped with a ginger bear and a Turkish bear…ask the newlyweds. and also featured some ninja turtles. It was later revealed that the cake was a rainbow sponge with layers of lots of colours much to the guests delight. Between courses I popped outside with the Happy Couple to create some silly photos of the two of them that contrasted nicely with the romantic shots of them in the meadow that we had shot earlier in the day.

Beautiful days often lead to beautiful sunsets and Saturday was no exception. Scott and his comrades had a picture as the sun started to go down then as the newlyweds enjoyed a bit of time to themselves I did some very relaxed silhouettes of them together.
