Tracy and Nigel – Wedding Photography at Coombe Lodge, Blagdon

Tracy and Nigel had perfect summer weather for their celebrations at Coombe Lodge in Blagdon for their early June wedding. Tracy chose to get ready at the venue and arrived just before me, so I left her and her girls to settle in while I captured some images of the grounds before the guests started to arrive.

Tracy had popular makeup artist Vicki Waghorn to create her elegant wedding look and Vicki helped Tracy’s sister and chief bridesmaid Michelle’s stress levels when she added some curls to the flowergirls hair in super quick time.

Nigel seemed very relaxed when I met with him and his groomsmen. I captured images of them popping on their buttonholes before we did a few shots of him and the boys together. If I have time to do so, I always recommend getting any photos of the groups that only require the groom  prior to the ceremony. This way it saves time later on. Particularly on a warm day when most men want to remove their jackets as quickly as possible!

Tracy was helped into her gorgeous gown from Anne Harding by two of her lovely friends (who it turns out both went to school with my husband!) and then had an emotional few moments when her dad saw her for the first time before he walked his beautiful daughter down the aisle.

A fabulously sunny ceremony was followed by confetti throwing and welcome drinks along with a hundred hugs and kisses. traditional groups on the patio took place before we headed down to the indian bean tree in the grounds. Tracy had a special request to have all of the couples nieces and nephews sitting in the tree, a lovely shot but one that took a few minutes to put together with so many little people!

We then used Coombe Lodge as a backdrop for the couple portraits and sought out shade under the tree lined pathway. Nigel loves the architecture of the building so I incorporated it into lots of my shots during the afternoon.

Gorgeous food (as always) was finished with speeches by Nigel and his bestman and coffee and cupcakes served in the library. Tracy and Nigel had the perfect gap between the end of their meal and the evening party. With such a beautiful evening, guests had plenty of time to relax and enjoy the last of the sun before heading inside to party the night away to Nick Coles wedding DJ and saxophonist ‘Man on Fire’.

Just before their first dance I took the new Mr and Mrs Hicks off to capture some sunset shots. Typically, the stunning sunset that had been there moments before we stepped outside was hidden behind clouds (only to reappear again once we had finished!) but we still managed to get some lovely relaxed ‘golden hour’ images in the adjacent field to the grounds.
